Data protection law gives you the right to know what personal information an organization holds about you and ensures that this information is handled correctly. You can find more details in our Data Protection Policy and privacy notice.

How to request your information

To request your personal information, you must submit a request in writing. You also need to include a copy of a document that proves who you are, such as your driving license, birth certificate, or passport. A suggested template is available to help you.

  • Fee: There is usually no fee for this service. However, if your request is repetitive, excessive, or clearly unfounded, we may charge an administration fee.
  • Timescale: We will respond to your request within 30 calendar days of receiving it.

Review and appeal

If you are not satisfied with how the Crofting Commission has handled your personal information, you should contact the Information Commissioner's Office in Scotland. The Information Commissioner is responsible for upholding information rights in the public interest.
