Annual notice early warning
Annual notice early warning
We are writing to everyone who did not complete their annual notice return earlier this year. If you receive the letter, you should take action now.
What can I do now?
- Check and update your contact details
- Are your contact details correct on the register of crofts?
- Update them so we can reach you
- Are you living on or near your croft?
All crofters have a duty to:
- Be ordinarily resident on, or within 32 kilometres of their croft
- Cultivate and maintain the croft
- Not to misuse or neglect the croft
- I need more information about my crofter’s duties
- Are you living more than 32km away from your croft but intend to use it again soon?
- I want to know more about how I can be away from my croft, but still fulfil my duties
- Find my croft and apply
- Would you like someone else to use your croft for a short time?
- I’m a croft tenant and want to know more about subletting my croft
- I own my croft, or I’m a landlord of a vacant croft and want to know more about short-term letting
- Find my croft and apply
- Thinking of giving up your croft?
Tenant crofters can transfer their croft tenancy to another person with our consent:
- I want to know more about assignation
- Find my croft and apply
- Giving up your croft, but keeping your house and garden?
Tenant crofters, owner occupiers, and landlords of a vacant or part-vacant croft can apply to take an existing house site and garden out of crofting tenure:
- Find my croft and apply
- My relative has died
If a relative has died and you have inherited their croft, you must let us know. You are legally required to report a death.
