Making a complaint

The Crofting Commission is committed to providing high-quality customer service. Our complaints process is designed to be accessible, fair, and confidential, following the principles set by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.

If you are unhappy with our services, you can make a complaint. We have two types of complaints:

  • Informal complaint: This is processed within 5 working days.
  • Formal complaint: This is processed within 20 working days.

Important note

You cannot complain about a decision the Commission has made on an application unless you believe there was a procedural or process fault. To appeal a decision, please see our section on appeals.
