Objections and comments

For many applications, the applicant must advertise a public notice in a local paper. This allows the crofting community and other relevant individuals to object or comment on it.

How to object or comment

  • Within 28 days of the notice being advertised, any member of the crofting community or any other person we consider has a relevant interest can submit an objection or comment.
  • Objections cannot be anonymous.
  • You can also view a list of applications we’ve received.

What do we mean by a “crofting community”?

A "crofting community" includes all people who either:

  • Live on a croft in a township with at least two crofts registered with us, or
  • Hold shares in the common grazings for that township.
