Information about applying online
How applying online works
Choosing the right form
- Access the Form Finder section
- Find the holding that you wish to make an application against
- Chose the name of applicant from a list of people we associate with the selected holding
- Choose the type of application you wish to make from a drop down menu. Only relevant applications will be shown here depending on the status of the person and/or the croft.
- Choose your submission method:
- Apply Online – complete an online submission form or
- Upload pdf – complete a pdf version of the form and upload it into your online account.
After choosing the submission method you will be taken to the Online Application Portal to your application.
If you already have an account, you can access your Online Portal dashboard directly.
Applications not relating to a particular croft
The following application types are not linked to specific croft. To apply you need to complete the application form and post it to us:
Registers of Scotland (RoS) Registration Applications
Registers of Scotland application forms cannot be submitted via online system
These forms must be posted to the Commission at the below address:

What happens after submission
Once you submit a digital application it will be saved on your personal dashboard. You will receive an email confirming the submission. We will contact you if any further information is required.
Once we have made a decision you will receive a decision letter via post as normal. You can track the progress of your application on your dashboard.
Information for solicitors or agents who commonly submit applications
If you are a solicitor or agent who commonly submits applications, you can have your domain registered on our digital system. This will allow all employees using that domain to easily manage a caseload of work associated with your organisation.
