Information requested
Request for following information: Up to date list of crofters who tenant ground administered by the Trustees of the The Free Church of Scotland in Camusbane. The extent of each holding. Any documentation available as to the association between the Free Church of Scotland and Arnisdale Estate which allowed this areas to be used by the Camusbane crofters.
Response
According to our records, the Trustees of the Glenelg and Arnisdale Free Church own part of the Camusbane Common Grazings comprising the Sheep Pasture (known as Ben-Na-Eaglish) extending to approximately 100 ha (247 acres). A copy of a letter dated 19 January 1982 from Simpson & Marwick who were at one time agents for the Glenelg & Arnisdale Free Church concerning the Sheep Pasture was issued, along with a list of shareholders of the Camusbane Common Grazings showing who shares in each part of the common grazings.
