Can I let part of my croft to someone without making them a croft tenant?

Yes, an owner-occupier crofter may apply for the Commissions’ consent to a proposed lease of their croft for a period not exceeding 10 years (a “short lease”). The Commission may impose conditions (other than any relating to rent) on the let as they see fit. For further information please visit Short Term Let
