Register of Crofts
Register of Crofts
The register of crofts is a public list of crofts managed by the Crofting Commission. It contains key information about each croft and the people linked to it.
What you’ll find: The register includes details for over 21,500 crofts. About 70% are tenanted, and the rest are owned. Some crofts on the register may be only grazing shares.
Updates: The online register is updated every 24 hours. Keep in mind that some changes may not show up right away due to legal timeframes.
Incorrect information: If you find any information that is not correct, please let us know at info@crofting.gov.scot or use our online form

We support the Scottish Government’s Open Data Strategy. You can download the full data set for our register of crofts.
Crofting register (Registers of Scotland)
The Registers of Scotland holds a separate database, the crofting register, which includes boundary information and maps for each croft. About half of all crofts are currently registered here.
We are working to move all croft information to this single, central database. Once that’s complete, our own register of crofts will be retired.
If your croft is not on this register, you will likely need to register it when you submit an application to us. You can also register voluntarily at any time.
