Crofting Commission Area Representatives

A ‘Crofting Commission Area Representative’ (CC Area Rep) is appointed by the Crofting Commission, with experience of active crofting, a good knowledge of crofting, and who lives in a crofting area. CC Area Reps pass on information locally and are available to signpost crofters to the Commission’s and other services.

CC Area Reps provide a highly valued link between the Commission and crofting communities, and are engaged for the benefit of crofting, in all crofting areas. This role was previously titled ‘Area Assessor’ but was amended in 2023, to better reflect the role the volunteers have within the Commission.

The CC Area Rep role is voluntary, but they can reclaim receipted travel and subsistence expenses, as well as loss of earnings, for any time required to perform work on behalf of the Commission.
